Insulated Bootlace Ferrules AI Series - Phoenix Contact
Phoenix contact provides you with a range of great insulated ferrules that can be crimped onto the end of a cable or wire to give your connection more stability and prevention from fraying. These bootlace crimp ferrules are made from a soft tin-plated electrolytic copper and have a soft plastic cover to further enhance the connection and prevention of fraying. Designed with safety in mind, they're free from any silicone and halogen.
Features and benefits:
- Insulatedrevent splicing of wires to ensure a stable connection over the long term
- No need for soldering, a crimping tool is all that is required to fit the ferrules (see below for tools)
- Reliability of close connections is massively increased
- Maximum operating temperature of 105°C so can be used in harsh conditions
How to crimp a bootlace ferrule?
Ferrules are simple and easy to install. Firstly, they're mounted to the end of a stripped cable and are simply compressed onto the cable (typically with a tool) to form a tight and sturdy fit onto a cable. Once they're crimped onto the cable, give a gentle tug to ensure it is tight. Once you're sure it is tight, you can then proceed to mate your wire with connector.
What are bootlace ferrules used for?
Bootlace ferrules are used to help prevent the cable splicing or fraying when a connection is made. Typically the terminal blocks use a screw-connection, so if you have a bootlace ferrule mounted on your wire, this allows the screw to make a better bond rather than a few strands of metal cable. Not to mention, installing a bootlace ferrule ensures your connection is easier to install and remove.
