Eaton Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCBs) - PXF-A Series

Introducing the PXF-A series of residual current circuit breakers from Eaton, a professional and high-quality range of residual current devices. Providing total electrical circuit protection, these RCD's have been created and designed to protect users from a fatal electric shock through the use of the automatic switch-off of electrical power supply where there is a fault. These residual current devices are commonly installed in applications where there are exposed wires, prone to overheating or earth faults providing complete RCD protection.

Type A is designed for systems with alternating and pulsating direct currents. Type A RCCBs will also operate correctly in the presence of smooth direct residual current flow up to 6 mA.

Features & Benefits

• Fault current circuit breaker, conditionally current-proof up to 250 A for additional protection
• Pulsed current sensitive, type A
• Contour and busbar compatible with other P-Series devices
• Double terminal with lift / jaw top and bottom
• Free selection of rail arrangement top and bottom
• Free terminal space despite busbar mounting
• Protects from special non-smoothened forms of DC fault currents
• Real contact position display
• Triggered state display through signal contact
• Retrofittable auxiliary switch
• Standards: IEC / EN 61008 and approvals are DIN VDE 0664 part 10

What type of RCD do I need?

An RCD is a protective and potentially life saving device designed to keep electrical installations protected from nuisance trips, short circuits and overloads, whilst also protecting against electric shocks and electrocution when there is bare or faulty wiring, or earth leakage. The device will automatically cut out the power supply when a fault is detected.

Fixed RCDs are commonly installed in a fuse box and can protect multiple circuits. RCDs located within a consumer unit are mostly passive which allows household appliances to re-establish normal operation when the circuit power is reset.

Socket-Outlet RCDs provide individual protection to the person who is in contact with the equipment, making them an integral tool for electricians. They can be used in place of a standard socket outlet. Socket-outlet RCDs are either active or passive. They are latching in operation so are not ideal for power tools which do not require a restart when the circuit is restored.

Portable RCD plugs also only provide individual protection to the person who is in contact with the equipment. They plug-in to any standard socket, and the appliance is then plugged into the RCD. Portable RCDs are mostly active and unlatch when any abnormality is detected. Ideally suited for use with outside power tools which could become dangerous if they were suddenly reactivated.
